Refugee Integration and Employment Service
       More and different

For anyone over the age of 18 who has been granted refugee status or humanitarian protection following an asylum claim.

Direct referrals are made by regional asylum teams; any agency that believes a refugee may be eligible should contact the Refugee Integration and Employment Service (RIES) central referral team: 0207 346 6714. This is a service that supports the integration of refugees into UK society. There are three elements:

  • an integration advice service for six months;
  • an employment advice and brokerage service for up to 12 months;
  • a refugee mentoring service which can last between six and 12 months.

RIES have dedicated employment and integration advisers who work to ensure access to appropriate language training, employment support and jobs.

  • People granted Discretionary Leave or receive status through the Case Resolution Programme are not eligible for RIES.  People access RIES where they live when their status is granted; they lose this entitlement if they move out of the area.
  • Cuts to core services to refugees are being reported.
